Working with the Address Book
- On the Windows menu, choose Address Book.

- You can also open the address book by clicking the Address Book button on the Mail window tool bar.

- If the address book is not open, choose Address Book on the Windows menu.
- On the Edit menu, point to Address Book, and then choose New User from the pop-up menu.
- In the First Name field, enter the First name of the person.
- In the Last Name field, enter the Last name of the person.
- In the Email Address field, enter the e-mail address. For example, "Bob@microsoft.com"
- In the Description field, enter any descriptive text you want.
- Click Save.
Tips
- To quickly move between the fields in the User window, press the Tab key.
- If you are adding a user that only has one name, such as a company, enter the name in the First Name field and leave the Last Name file empty.

Deleting a user or user group
- If the address book is not open, choose Address Book on the Windows menu.
- On the Edit menu, point to Address Book, and choose New Group from the pop-up menu.
- In the Group Name field, enter a name for the group.
- In the Description field, enter a description for the group.
- In the User field, type the name of an entry in your address book. As you type, entries in the address book that match what you are typing will be automatically filled in.
- Click Add.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 for every user you want to add to the group.
Tips
- To search for a user in a group, enter the user name that you are looking for in the Search field. As you type, only the names that match what you have typed will be visible. To show all users again, delete the text in the Search field.
- To remove a user from the group, choose Delete on the Edit menu.
- If you add a new user to the address book while a group window is open, that user will also be added to the group.

Resizing the windows and columns
- If the address book window is not open, choose Address Book on the Windows menu.
- Click on the column heading you want to sort by.
Tips
- To change the sort order, click the column heading you want to sort by. You will see a triangle appear representing the current sort order. To switch between ascending and descending sort order, click the column heading again.
- You can change which columns are displayed by pointing to Columns on the Edit menu, and then checking and unchecking columns as needed.
- You can also sort in the group window.

- In the Address Book window, select the user or group you want to delete.
- On the Edit menu, choose either Delete User or Delete Group. The available Delete command reflects the type of item you select in step 1.
Tips
- Deleting a user in the address book will also remove the user from any groups they belonged to.
- Hold down the Shift key to select multiple entries.
- You can also delete by clicking the Delete button on the address book tool bar.
- If the address book is not open, choose Address Book on the Windows menu.
- Select the user of group you want to edit.
- On the Edit menu, point to Address Book, and choose Edit User/Group from the pop-up menu.
- Make changes as needed.
- Click Save.

Microsoft Internet Mail and News can import address books from the following applications: Eudora Pro and Eudora Light, Claris Emailer, and Netscape Navigator.
Eudora Pro and Eudora Light
- On the File menu, choose Import Address Book.
- In the Import dialog box, find System Folder: Eudora Folder: Eudora Nicknames.
- Click Open.
Claris Emailer
- Double-click the Claris Emailer application icon to start it.
- On the File menu, choose Export Addresses.
- In the dialog box, click Desktop.
- In the Specify The Export File field, type a name for the file.
- Click Save.
- On the File menu, choose Quit.
- If Internet Mail and News is not running, double-click its icon to start it.
- On the Windows menu, choose Address Book.
- On the File menu, choose Import Address Book.
- In the dialog box, click Desktop.
- Locate the file you exported from Claris Emailer.
- Click Open.
Netscape Navigator
- Double-click the Netscape Navigator application icon to start it.
- On the Window menu, choose Address Book.
- On the File menu, choose Save Address Book As.
- In the dialog box, click Desktop.
- In the Save Address Book File field, type a name for the file.
- Click Save.
- On the File menu, choose Quit.
- If Internet Mail and News is not running, double-click its icon to start it.
- On the Windows menu, choose Address Book.
- On the File menu, choose Import Address Book.
- In the dialog box, click Desktop.
- Locate the file you exported from Netscape Navigator.
- Click Open.
Tips
- User groups are not imported.
- You can also drag a user from the address book in Netscape Navigator and Claris Emailer to the Interne Mail and News address book.

Tip
- The exported address book is a text file and can be opened and edited using any text editor.
- You can import an Internet Mail and News address book that you have exported by choose Import Address Book on the File menu and then selecting the exported address book file.
